Why we were there: Chastian Park Art Festival
When we were there: May 2021
How was the show: A wonderful show in the lovely Chastain Park in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta. The first show in the Atlanta area since the beginning of the pandemic. It was organized a little last minute and there was a mix up in signage, so the turn out was not as heavy, but those that turned out were happy and enthusiastic.
Where did we go: Because we have been to the Atlanta area several times to visit family nearby and for other shows we have already done some cool stuff and didn’t spent much time sightseeing on this trip. Our first stop is always Topaz Gallery in Buckhead. Topaz is one of our beloved retail partners and I highly recommend a shopping trip there when you are in town. We stayed near Inman Park and ventured out for a delicious meal (eggs benidict, please!) at Folk Art. In 2019 (pre-shut down) we had a great trip to Atlanta for the American Craft Council Show. We visited the Center for Puppetry Arts which had a replica of Jim Henson’s studio and office, see pictures below. And on our way back to Texas we stopped in Montgomery, Alabama for a sobering, difficult, and reflective visit to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice and The Legacy Museum.
What is on our list for the next visit: One day we will go to the Carter Center.
