The Story of our Collaborations
Resin Collaboration
The story goes…We have a friend who is an academic and during the pandemic she developed a resin habit. I (Melanie) was at her house for dinner and saw a pile of colorful bits in a pile in her studio. She said, “These are rejects but you can’t recycle resin, so I don’t know what to do with them.” I said, “I will recycle them for you.” And our collaboration started! I take the leftover, rejected, and donated pieces and spend a few days playing with them and pairing them. Then I sand them, smooth them, drill them, connect them, and oxidize them. The resin is all hand poured by Kris Anderson of HRIBAL Resin. Then all the pieces are finished by me with sterling silver.
Acrylic Collaboration
The story goes… We have a friend who makes sculptures with a CNC router. He works in metal, wood, acrylic, you name it. One day he came over for dinner with a box in hand. “These are my negative spaces,” he said, “I thought you might like them.” And our Negative Space line was born. The shapes are from an acrylic wall sculpture project made by John Knott at Bent Fabrication with lots of cutouts, these pieces are what was left over. I finish the edges and fashion them with sterling silver.
