Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Blake with our beautiful award!
Why we were there: Peter Anderson Festival
When we were there: November 2022
How was the show: Not a great show this year. Seemed more market like. Sales were slower. Will need to rethink this show although we love this small artsy town.
Where did we go: The big visit this trip was the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, a tribute to master potter George Ohr set in a Frank Gehry building. The buildings are amazing! By Frank Gehry who I am told will visit this February for a retrospective show. The campus is made up of small buildings, each a galleries. It was filled with pottery artwork both historic and contemporary. There is an African-american gallery and an outsider art gallery as well. All great exhibits. See the photos below for some snaps of our tours, sorry for the unattributed contemporary art.
What is on our list for the next visit: We still have spots to visit leftover from our first trip in 2020. I need to schedule timing to be right to visit the Round Church in Biloxi. And, there is Shearwater Pottery which is a working pottery studio founded in the 1920’s by Peter.
