How

We use traditional metalsmithing and lapidary techniques, with all of our metal fabrication and most stones cut in-house. The process includes applying matte black patinas, 24k gold gilding, and casting recycled silver to minimize waste. The result is small-batch and one-of-a-kind jewelry, defined by architectural lines, rich textures, and asymmetry. Due to the nature of our materials, our jewelry is one-of-a-kind. Each piece, elaborate or simple, is crafted by us, for you.

Who

Melanie Schlossberg and Blake Smith, the creative partnership behind Dirigible Designs, both began metalworking as teenagers. Melanie received a BFA in metalsmithing from Syracuse University, while Blake learned his craft from his father in New Mexico. They met in Texas—Blake managing a bronze foundry, Melanie an art consultant—and have been creating together since 2015. Read more about them.
